Thai Lao Hot Coffee

This individually filtered coffee is commonly known as "Vietnamese Coffee". This coffee drink is mixed with a teaspoon of Sweetened Condensed Milk.

Watch the Thai & Lao Food video to see how hot coffee is made in Thailand and Laos using a stainless steel, single cup, coffee filter. The ice coffee is made the same way but adding ice over hot coffee.

I frequent Vietnamese restaurants and they call it Cafe Sua Da. I could never make it taste at home like it did there.

I was finally given the secret to the taste - a small amount of "Bur Demi Sel" - or French, lightly salted butter. I'm not kidding - it gives it a slightly Heath Bar taste and you can never go back!!

There is also an Irish butter I see in super markets now that comes very close - "Kerrygold" it comes in small tubs and costs way more than house brand (just like the French) but regular American butter beads up at the surface when it hits the ice.

Enjoy!
